What is a PPEC?

A PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care) is a Florida-licensed medical daycare center for children with complex medical needs. When prescribed by a physician, children may receive authorized medical, nursing, therapeutic, and developmental services during the day. Coverage is determined individually by eligibility and payer authorization.

Does my child qualify for PPEC services?

Accepted Answer

Children from birth until their 21st birthday with medically complex conditions may qualify. Common qualifying conditions include cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, tracheostomy or ventilator dependence, feeding tube dependence, respiratory conditions, developmental delays, Autism with Complex Medical or Skilled Nursing Needs, and other medically complex conditions. A physician's prescription is required.

How much does Elite PPEC cost?

Eligible, authorized PPEC services may be covered by Florida Medicaid. Coverage is verified individually. Private school tuition and Step Up scholarship decisions are separate from PPEC coverage.

Door-to-door transportation may be available after eligibility, authorization, address, equipment, and current routes are reviewed.
