A PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care) is a Florida-licensed medical daycare center for children with complex medical needs. When prescribed by a physician, children may receive authorized medical, nursing, therapeutic, and developmental services during the day. Coverage is determined individually by eligibility and payer authorization.

Does my child qualify for PPEC services?

Children from birth until their 21st birthday with medically complex conditions may qualify. Common qualifying conditions include cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, tracheostomy or ventilator dependence, feeding tube dependence, respiratory conditions, developmental delays, Autism with Complex Medical or Skilled Nursing Needs, and other medically complex conditions. A physician's prescription is required.

How much does Elite PPEC cost?

Eligible, authorized PPEC services may be covered by Florida Medicaid. Coverage is verified individually. Private school tuition and Step Up scholarship decisions are separate from PPEC coverage.

A child is likely a good fit for Elite PPEC if they meet the following:

Child is under 21 years old
Has a qualifying medically complex diagnosis (see conditions below)
Is Florida Medicaid eligible or already enrolled in a Florida Medicaid MCO
Has (or can obtain) a physician's prescription for PPEC services
Resides in Broward County or surrounding service area (Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Davie, Hallandale Beach, Plantation)

How quickly can a child start after discharge?

Start timing depends on clinical review, physician orders, payer authorization, family consent, staffing, and transportation. Our intake team will provide a case-specific status after reviewing the referral.

Do you accept ventilator-dependent children?

Yes. Elite PPEC is staffed and equipped for ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and complex respiratory support. Our respiratory therapist and RN team coordinate directly with your pulmonology service.

What is the nurse-to-child ratio?

Staffing is based on each child's authorized care plan, clinical needs, enrollment, and applicable requirements. Call our intake team to discuss a specific child's needs.

Can Elite PPEC coordinate home health wrap-around hours?

When authorized by the family and appropriate for the care plan, our team can coordinate with outside providers. Coverage and scheduling remain subject to each provider, payer, and authorization.
